A Local Chiropractor with a Passion for Helping People
Born and raised in Garsfontein, Pretoria, Dr Jacques Herman Maree has always had a strong connection to his community and a passion for helping people live healthier, more active lives.
He obtained his Master's Degree in Chiropractic from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), where his dedication to the profession extended beyond the classroom. During his studies, he had the privilege of serving as an assistant clinician at UJ's Chiropractic Clinic and teaching chiropractic techniques to fourth-year chiropractic students.
These experiences helped shape his hands-on, patient-centred approach to chiropractic care.
Driven by Sport. Inspired by Movement.
Sport has always been a major part of Dr Jacques' life.
As a competitive 400m sprinter and 400m hurdler, he competed at provincial and national levels throughout his school years, developing a deep appreciation for the human body's ability to perform, adapt and recover.
His passion for sport naturally carried over into his chiropractic career.
During his postgraduate studies, Dr Jacques gained valuable experience treating athletes across a variety of sporting disciplines, including rugby, water polo, track cycling and cricket.
Working alongside the University of Johannesburg, he also assisted in treating the Golden Lions rugby squad and served as part of the medical team at several 94.7 Cycle Challenges.
These opportunities strengthened his interest in sports-related injuries, rehabilitation, injury prevention and helping patients return to the activities they love.
Experience That Goes Beyond the Treatment Room
After completing his master's dissertation, clinical training and internship requirements, Dr Jacques joined Dr Mark Hugo Meyer at Cradle Health Spa, where they established the Hartbeespoort Chiropractic Clinic.
The clinic went on to be recognised as the 5th Most Popular Health and Fitness Service in the North West Province by Health4You.
In 2017, Dr Jacques returned to his roots and opened his own chiropractic practice in Garsfontein, Pretoria.
That same year, his practice was recognised as the 3rd Most Popular Health and Fitness Service in Pretoria and Tshwane, a meaningful achievement for a practice built around personalised care and a commitment to its community.
His academic contributions also extend beyond clinical practice. His master's dissertation, The Effect of Power®ball on Non-Specific Wrist Pain, was published in The Chiropractic Clinician, Volume 1, the first chiropractic journal published by the Chiropractic Association of South Africa.
His research was also presented as a poster at the EPIC 2019 WFC/ECU Congress in Berlin, Germany, held from 20–23 March 2019.
International Experience. Local Commitment.
From 2021 to 2024, Dr Jacques spent several years in the Netherlands, where he contributed to the development of various chiropractic practices while expanding his clinical knowledge and refining his treatment techniques.
Working in an international healthcare environment provided valuable exposure to different approaches to chiropractic care, allowing him to broaden his skills and further develop his patient-centred treatment philosophy.
After his time abroad, he returned home to Pretoria, bringing his international experience and renewed enthusiasm back to the community where his journey began.
Dr Jacques is a member of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA), ChiroSport SA, and the Paediatric Chiropractic Association of South Africa (PCSA).
